WISCONSIN YES! : since mainstream media is owned by corporations who don’t want  tax increases for the rich which is the obvious place to start in helping us improve our economy that Bush screwed up by dragging us into an unnessasary invasion into A and I ,the  middle class and working class people  are finally standing  up to pay cuts for teachers and other middle class and lower class jobs often protected by much needed unions. without the unions we’d be working for  2 dollars a day like in thailand and our kids would be too. Since the mainstream network news  is  in bed with the rich -  we need to turn to comedians to tell  the real news. I LOVE JOHN STEWART !  he helped get us through the overwhelming gloom and downright rotten brainwashing of america during the  bush reign of terror  and now he helps spell out how our system is so far sussed up by the corporate lobbyists , banksters, and  greedy rethuglicans that the PEOPLE STANDING UP get some coverage and points out the impossible GREED of those who get the mainstream TV news platforms.  - Lady Kier

sidenote from Lady Kier:   where is the bass ?  I don’t hear it ?   did they leave it off this mix ?    because  I know Bootsy was playing  .

”seperate the art from the artist”   i’ve heard throughout my life. has there ever been a better example of knowing when we must  ”seperate the art from the artist” because what he has  produced is artistic perfection on levels 22  and beyond  keeping him  on a map  of venus and  in business.

I believe drunk talk is truth talk…..and even after all  ..thru the ugly conflicted individual he’s proved to be captured by the tiny cell phone, he’s   channelled it into the most exquisite of  collections consistently  and DIOR never was or will be again without him. One  can lose their  mind but not  lose IT.He’ll always have IT.

I am not sure if I am athiest but i always loved the expression Jerome’s Mom Luc(ifer) would say…”when God fires you, no one will hire you” .    Just think about it …..do you  think you could  have had a relaxing dinner with Picasso or Salvador dali  without them insulting you in the most ugliest of ways with backhanded compliments or downright confrontational assholiness on the highest level. I think not . After  reading their  biographys , some of  the most  ambitious mad geniouses are the ugliest of humans…that’s why they  must create. It must be  evolutionary in some way. self loathing leads to creation to find a sense of purpose. SURVIVAL OF THE WEAKEST IS WHAT I SAY. He dug his own grave and I am glad he exposed himself- for his own sake but there is no denying his talent. Condeleeeza rice was a great piano player   but having said that there are actual sweethearts who are brilliant -thru and thru -  maybe not ruthless enough to be known in their lifetime… so no…. I DON’T believe one has to be a conflicted a-hole to be a creative genious - I’m also surprised at how little he knows about history- Hitler killed the gays and gypsys first!-     Lady kier

can I just say….. CHAKA !   THE most beautiful woman in the world…..when is central park gonna build a statue of her!   the first time I heard her was thru an AM radio as I was in the backseat of my little playmate best friend  Julie Gladys’s car. her mom…. a square -looking librarian who subscribed to the new yorker even though we lived in pittsburgh was on permanent nervouse (sp) intellectual  energy gear,  was listening in as my mouth dropped and my body froze the first time I heard  ”tell me something good ”  blaring out the radio , I was worried that the wallflower librarian might not be able to handle the full on FUNK of Chaka….she seemed to be the opposit -  raw and womanly , funky, and flowing  ,embodieing  the  sexy essence of every woman .  damn…the record label  couldn’t handle Chaka’s  fierce womanhood … I think  Chaka was a teenager but as she had the body and voice of a 35 year old woman they didn’t know how to act ( let alone promote) . But the music spoke for itself to little seven year olds in the backseat and  and square librarians as well as the rest of anyone lucky enough to hear her.Mrs. Gladys started to  bob her head and smile as we all shared the most funky thang to ever come out the radio up until that point. Stevie Wonder wrote it but Chaka delivered it and noone …i mean noone can touch her PURE soul. not in my lifetime anyway.  I feel for her… I think I love her.- Lady kier

I love a good storyteller !  Melvin Van Peebles has many to pick from . Until I resolve what my shady accountant and bandmate has done to me , I need some uplifting fun to take my mind off the betrayals. He’s just the guy to do it. Tuesday feb 28th at Zebulon -that’s where I’ll be, listening to his life’s adventures backed up by music from Laxative.(members of the Burnt sugar orchestra)-afterwards I’m probably heading to jessica 6 ! -    Lady kier

ESCORT  and MIDNITE MAGIC SPANKED us last nite - thankyou! Shawn b and DJ Will Automagic brought the magic and glitter that we’ve been needing. both bands rocked the disco boogie down and the deeejays never dissapoint at SPANK.

to a crowd tranquilized by fox propaghanda , this guy is attempting to help the fox mob to think for themselves. For those readers who live outside the US , i don’t think you could fathom the magnitude of bush era propaghanda that still infiltrates our mainstream tv networks and radio  today. similar daily broadcasts happened in rawhanda,(sp) .    the best part about it is…is that it drives millions of us away  from tv and to the internet to read the BBC ,the Guardian,Reddit, etc… This guy is so clever  and I really love his whole approach. -lady kier

"she’s got nipples as big as her thumb and she could make a dead man come." with lyrics like this no wonder these pioneers got a bad rep and the genre was short lived. When I first moved back from london and  into  chelsea I had a sweetheart of a neighbor who was so colorful and full of life that she reminded me of the charachter in "harold and maude". she was 84 and in the 1960’s she started her own record label called ROSETTA records . The label released female artists from the 30’s like Lucille Bogan and all the ladies from the  "risque blues’ genre.. Her apt.was filled with photos and tributes to the vulgar but truthful stars of that era-only the ladies and only packaged w/ pink labels!.  Rosetta spoke at universities and was writing a book but still had a childlike quality when she’d ask in a guilty voice"do you mind if i have a cigarette-i only have one a day".  I had plans of getting her masters re-released on a label like rhino but before we could get it off the ground -she died. R.I.P. Rosetta  and Rosetta records. -Lady kier

From Dayton ,Ohio, Steve Arrington brought us many legendary yet  underrated dance classics.   This is just one of many  from after  he was with Slave. Classics like  ”watching you” , “dancin in the key of life, “just a touch of love ” ,weak at the knees, way out, and many more spun the crowd into a funk frenzy of smiles and joyful  dips at the knees . Dj spinna rocked the crowd leading up to this inspirational show blending and editing funk the way only he can. . Arrrington’s voice sounded stronger than ever and when he hit  the high notes with his Unique voice everybody screamed. Then he got on the drums and showed us a groove so tite and familiar  , i had to scan my brain for classic hip hop jams that sampled that same groove . Big shout out to dam -Funk and the new collab together that was performed. and big thanks to CX  Kid Tronic for the heads up about the his labelmate on  Stonesthrow which will be releasing both new albums from Arrington and CX Kid tronic.  great night out! I expect to seee this show on tour soon- he’s too talented not to spread that love around.  - lady Kier

VanDAMN!  that was fun.   HAPPY VALENTINES DAY .

song of the night:  the clark sisters    ”you brought the sunshine into my life”

And Rollerskate…rollerskate….  When I was 12 years old I would demand my grandma Naomi would drive me and my little spanky gang to the rollerskating rink every saturday. The DJ ” Mr. Crysteltones ” who was like a white  Don Cornelious would play roller boogie disco as the more mature skaters would whizz by in their rainbow  suspenders and sequin beret’s flexing disco skate moves that are etched in my mind to this day . Off in the distance we could hear the sound of pinball machines pinging and popping . My favorite part of saturdays  was towards the end when the colorful disco lights would dim to near darkness  except  one spot light on the disco ball creating that diamond galaxy of light spinning  thru the whole joint as Deeejay Crystaltones would get on the mike and say ” now it’s time for couples skate”. everyone would look around and see if anyone was looking at them. sometimes we’d just watch the tweenage couples and daydream from the sides and other times i’d grab my little girlfriends hand and we’d skate together pretending to be a ‘real “couple  , but  one thing was sure ….he’d play the slow jammies like “strawberry letter 23”  or 10 cc’s “I’m not in love”  and I’d get chills  thinking about love. This is one of those songs and if it was around at the time - it would have been a  couples roller jam. Sometimes when I dj- especially  if i get a 5 hour  set - I break it down and announce in my best Crystaltones impression ” this is a couples jam,  couples to the dancefloor” Happy valentines- Lady Kier

When it’s cold outside,  i just remember summertime in Brooklyn . Memories of The West Indian Day parade keep me warmest . here’s a little movie I shot if you want to feel the fire .The only cold moment was when Ronald McDonald inc.   had the  greasy fried nerve to  show up with the  McDonald’s banner stating  ”You, Me , and Ecology” . and the McCow say’s mooooooWTF ?

I WAS BORN THIS WAY ! I havn’t heard the new gaga song yet but when I heard the title, I immediatly thought of the Rev. Carl Bean’s worldwide GAY ANTHEM of the same title . let’s celebrate his courage to come out with this beautiful song in 1977. it was originally written in 1974 by Chris Spierer and Bunny Jones  and covered by many others since , but in my opinion this is THE version. enjoy-  lady Kier

EDIT: Madonna controversy about express yourself. I think the reason madonna is not going after gaga over the blatant melody similarity is because she blatantly took the verse melodies from TLC’s “waterfalls” which was a massive hit before express yourself even if only in demo form- Mcdees favorite place to lift from thruout her career-soon to be released projects. I’m willing to bet McDonna was sued at the time and settled out of court. Why would she want to shine a spotlite on that. Enjoy the true pioneering spirit of the lovely and devine Carl Bean. zip up your boots and get back to the roots of heartfelt soothsayers. thanks Carl- Lady kier
